Community Activator (6 months fixed term with potential to extend)

The Edmund Hillary Fellowship is seeking a full time, experienced Community Activator to enhance engagement and amplify the impact of Fellows in Aotearoa NZ. You must be eligible to live and work in Aotearoa NZ.

About Us

The Edmund Hillary Fellowship was set up in 2016 with Immigration New Zealand to attract global innovators to Aotearoa NZ as a basecamp for global impact. EHF’s purpose is to partner with Aotearoa NZ to find and build solutions to our toughest challenges. Today we have a community of high-calibre Fellows from over 50 countries leading in areas as diverse as aerospace, blockchain, investment,  cleantech, education, storytelling, social enterprise and systems design.

The Role

EHF is seeking a seasoned Community Activator to enhance engagement and help activate the Fellowship, supporting Fellows in Aotearoa NZ and around the world, during an important stage of the Fellowship's journey. This is a fixed-term position to support project and event related work, with the potential to extend the agreement.. 

Your role is to sense and respond to the needs and aspirations of the Fellowship, design and deliver events and collaborative programmes for Fellows, develop enabling pathways and processes, and support community engagement across the diverse global network. You will be committed to being Tangata Tiriti (People of Treaty) and promote inclusivity and collective impact.

Key Responsibilities  

  1. Develop pathways and initiatives that support Fellow connection and engagement, including new purpose-led Fellow communities. 

  2. Build strong relationships and co-ordinate engagement and partnerships between Fellows and the NZ innovation ecosystem, in collaboration with the wider team.

  3. Create quality communications and resources, including managing content on the EHF Online Hub. 

  4. Lead Fellowship engagement and impact measures including tracking and reporting insights with recommendations.

About you

You will have strong leadership skills with four or more years’ experience engaging with start-ups or the innovation ecosystem. You will be recognised for your ability to engage with senior leaders, and building authentic and inclusive relationships. Your passion is enhancing engagement that supports collective outcomes. 

You will have:

  • 4+ years as a Community Manager / Activator with proven use of community engagement methods focused on action and impact.

  • 3+ years curating and managing major events and programmes online and in person.

  • Awareness and understanding of Aotearoa NZ as a bi-cultural nation and commitment to being Tangata Tiriti.

  • Applied community-led development experience, with a proven ability to sense and respond to the needs and aspirations of a community.

  • Proven experience in working with various software, tools and systems including G-Suite, Squarespace, Campaign Monitor, Zoom, Slack and Notion, keeping up to date with the latest trends and technologies

  • The right to work in New Zealand.
